Mahanati is the movie that is based on the biopic of legendary actress Savitri, portrayed by Keerthy Suresh. It is directed by Nag Ashwin of the Yevade Subramanyam fame. The ensemble cast of the movie includes Samantha Akkineni, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Devarakonda, Shalini Pandey, Mohan Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Prakash Raj, Krish, Tharun Bhascker Dhaasyam, Malavika Nair, Bhanupriya, Divyavani, Tanikella Bharani, Naga Chaithanya, Srinivas Avasarala, and Naresh. More than a retelling, this film is a character study on the kind of person Savitri was.

The movie begins in the year 1980 with Savitri (Keerthy Suresh) being taken to the hospital. Underdog reporter Madhuravani (Samantha) and photographer Anthony (Vijay Deverakonda) are handed the job of writing a report on Savitri (Keerthy Suresh) remaining in the coma for a year. They both meet a cameraman (Naresh) to know more about Savitri. But after a press conference with Gemini Ganeshan (Dulquer Salmaan), the duo believes there’s more to Savitri’s story than anyone knows. All the frames are captured with immense detailing set in various time periods.

Mahanati is undoubtedly a masterpiece and has all the makings of a film that will be remembered for a long time to come. Keerthy Suresh has breathed life into the character in the role of Savitri. The music and the background score are excellent and the editing is top notch. Tears will be shed, claps will be heard, goosebumps will be felt – all in reverence and in tribute to the Mahanati. It is a must-watch for every movie lover. Undoubtedly go and watch it in theatres near you.
